Continuing the Streak of Overall finishes, C.O.R.E. finishes First @ G@teway 2009.
Now, coming to the event. Held on 31st July 2009, the event was a Success. After a well-spoken speech by Aditya Salapaka, the opening ceremony ensued which, being quite short and crisp, lasted only 15 minutes. The events started off according to the schedule, and there were plenty of escorts to take you to the venues. Programming, Hardware Assembling, Surprise Event, and GD Prelims all started off.
GD : Our representative for GD, who is, well, not xactly a member of CORE, spoke quite well, on the topic “Google Chrome OS” vs. “Linux”.Qualified. Then, Sadly, the guy did not perform well in the Final, probably because he didn’t quite understand what the topic meant. But anyway, quite well a performance by him in his First GD.
Quiz : I and Aditya Chitral went for the Quiz prelims and they were fantastic okay
. According to Mr. Aditya Salapaka, the quiz was WORKABLE, which it was definitely NOT
Trivia
All Trivia. We managed to score arnd 5 out of 20, which was such a good score that we were actually 2nd or 3rd in the prelims
. Coming to the Finals, i can just say that they were Poor. Only 1 dry round, in which actually no one scored, was followed by 4 visual rounds, 2 of them connect, and 2 of them having pics and vids. The quality of Vids was Poor, probably because they dont know how to download a high quality mp4 file from youtube, and convert it using TVC to a better quality. Anyway, leaving that aside, the Winners, DPS Mathura Road, had 20 points, while runners up DPS RKP had only 5. Sadly, 2 of the visual rounds, the connect ones, were NON- Transferable, otherwise we would have scored atleast 10. BTW, a message to Aditya Salapaka, i have nothing personal against you, and i mean No Offence in this entire post, so don’t take these comments personally.
Hardware-Assembling : The participants had to assemble a computer according to the OS which it should be running, and quite surprisingly, all the parts were kept in their specific places, and the nuts and bolts just had to be screwed in, and the Computer should just be up and running with the particular OS. Ravi and Vardaan accomplished this with no problem what-so-ever, winning the event
Programming : Anirudh and Praneet went for the event, and sadly, they could not finish with a prize. I really cant post much about this event because I really have no idea about it.
Surprise Event : Shubham and Kavneet went to the event, and Won it
The first round was Crossword, in which we scored the highest : 11, while the second ones, RKP, had 8
Then was a monitor-keyboard coordination game called Frets on Fire, in which Shubham had 71% accuracy, again the highest
… and then was a game caled Typing the Dead, in which Kavneet again performed quite well.
Winners
Crypt-Analysis : Ravi and Siddharth went for the event, which involved Mathematical Encryptions of all kinds, a topic at which both of them are quite good. Again, Winners
Overall Organisation was Good and Refreshements were Bad. But the event was nice.
C.O.R.E. = Overall Winners Again
Lets hope the streak continues
Next up, MINET @ Mother’s Intl, Aurobindo Ashram. Lets hope to continue the streak.
In GK, Puffin Quiz 2009 @ Siri Fort, to be organised by Derek O Brien.
Btw, catching up on LOADS of Class and Homework.
Peace

Well, today was Tech Edge 2009 @ Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar.
I’ll start of with the highly eventful morning
. Well, this time, to my surprise, the transport was well organised by the School Head of Transport Mr. Rohit, inspite ov the fact that another team had to go to DPS Noida for E-Spice 2009. But as usual, the driver has to create some nuisance or the other. He took a bloody stranded Dwarka-Gurgaon-Saket route to Pushp Vihar, which, to everyone’s demise was full of places with waterlogging, particularly the gurgaon underpass. It took us 40 minutes to manuever through a place called the Gurgaon Underpass top, wholly due to the fact that it was full ov water 2 feet high. After we finally passed the area *successfully*
, the school was still about 40 minutes more, which extended to a time of 50 minutes due to the fact that there is another idiotic school, Vidya Niketan, in Saket
. And we got confused and entered the Vidya Niketan premisis *well, it did not have much of a premisis*, when we were told by a vella bus driver that the school is not BVN, but Vidya Niketan
. Height of insanity
. We reached the place at 10:00, exactly 1.5 hours after the registration was taking place.
After a highly eventful bus trip, came the school. The school appeared good from outside, with quite a green premisis, obviously bigger than the Vidya Niketan Premisis
. But a disappointing fact hit us when we entered the buiding. Thier Audi, or the so called *Battle Ground* was pathetic. *Read Personal Opinion only*. Okay, so the battle ground, to be specific, had no light coming in, and it was way too dark. Then it had no ACs, only stupid cieling fans, the wind produced by which could not even reach the people sitting below
It was so suffocating i cudnt even stand there for 5 minutes at a stretch. But to my rescue, there was this library they had next to the battle ground where the Quiz Prelims and MIRA took place, which was COOL! and by cool, i mean the literal cool, not the stylish cool
. So we sat there along with our teacher, Sonica Ma’am.
Now comes the events :
Wins in 3 events ! Can you guess what that means??
Overall 1st!!!!!!!!
It has just been a bloody brilliant start for C.O.R.E., securing Second overall in Ordinatrix @ Tagore Int. VV, and now, First overall at BVN, Tech Edge 2009.
The DPS Noida event, E-Spice was good enough, though we secured a position only in Programming, with Ravi and Anirudh coming 2nd! Kudos! And our newly made IT Quiz team, Anunay and Shashank, though just missed the 3rd position by 8 points or so, made a commendable effort
Kudos to them as well.
Anyway, loads of tests coming up, first Open test I @ Fiitjee and then Monday Test @ School, but still, I, being the vella that i am, would definitely be going for Montfort School, hoping to secure a position there.
Peace

Ordinatrix Ordin@trix 2009 was a Disgrace. As u all may be knowing, it was a so called Creative IT Symposium held today, 22.7.09 at Tagore Intl School, Vasant Vihar.
Let me start with the inaugral ceremony,
A. They started off half-an-hour late
B. Their Intro Video was shit
C. They have this so-called speech gal, who is an over-excited despo. I mean, she starts dancing every now and then, and there’s no end to her over-excitement. Her speech was shit. BTW, shes been giving that speech for 2 years now.
Now, their events :
A. Animatrix :
Schools had turned up with animations made using pictures and characters obtained frm the web. Being frank, ours was the onli animation which was made from scratch. And the so called judges, said that they were focusing on originality. Oh really, then it is just impossible to understand how Delhi Public School, RK Puram turned up 1st, as their anim. was copied from here and there. Hey, No Offence to DPS RKP! I respect them for everything they do, but i just have a humble feeling that they did not deserve 1st today.
B. Movieatrix :
Again, majority of the schools had videos copied from various sources, youtube etc etc, and we, in loving memory of our brother Akul Sareen, had paid a tribute to him in the form of a video for ordinatrix that was unmatchable. I m not saying it was the best, but it was surely one of the best. Damn, So much effort we had put into that video. May your soul R.I.P. Akul. These TIS VV People dont have any respect for a guy who’s expired.
C. Codeatrix, Turtleatrix, Palleteatrix :
I really cant say nything about these events, bcoz i havent watched these myself. Anyway, our skul had won the 3rd prize in each of the events. So i have nothing to say about these.
Now, Some things that i really fail to understand :
1. How do TIS VV and TIS EOK win a prize in each event every year? These TIS people dont even have the dignity for not taking the trophies and certificates for their positions. I mean, u can participate, but u cant take the trophies for urself. Thats just not good.
2.I think other schools start underperforing every year at Ordinatrix (read sarcasm). Probably it would not have been so if the TIS schools wont have taken all the trophies on their own.
3. What problem do these TIS people have if people are toking on their mobiles or for that matter, even toking to each other in the audi?
Every two minutes, a person came to us to tell us : “Please Keep Quiet”. I got so irritated.
Overall, according to me, it was not a good event.
Peace!
Here is our animation (Made From Scratch) :
